My son has a nut allergy, so I wanted to create nut free chocolate date balls that were similar to something like a homemade Larabar recipe. Turns out that Larabars are REALLY easy to make at home and so are these!
For these nut free chocolate date balls, I’ve subbed out the nuts for seeds. I also added in a few superfoods to give these little morsels an extra kick of energy and nutrition.
Superfoods
I added maca – a raw superfood that gives you super human strength! Maca is rich in vitamins and minerals, helps the body to adapt to changing environments, can relieve menstrual cramps, helps to balance mood, increases stamina, and has been known to increase libido.
Goji berries and mulberries were added to the nut free chocolate date balls. Gojis are extremely high in antioxidants, help boost immune function, improve circulation and can help increase longevity among other benefits. Mulberries are also an excellent source of antioxidants and are actually a good source of protein as well. Mulberries are lower in sugar compared to most dried fruit and they actually help regulate blood sugar.
And finally, I always use raw cacao. Cacao is an antioxidant powerhouse, a good source of protein, and as we all know, it definitely helps to boost our mood.
