Drinking green smoothies, especially this pineapple cucumber green smoothie is an act of kindness to yourself, a way of nourishing your body. And when the going gets tough, our stress hormones shoot through the roof, our emotions run wild, our body’s ability to digest and assimilate nutrients diminishes, and we just feel overwhelmed. It’s during these times that we often turn to comfort foods such as creamy dishes, sweet treats or just plain old junk food.
The better approach is work towards balance. Adding a green smoothie to your day can help provide your body with the right nutrition to work optimally even in the face of whatever stressors you may be currently dealing with. Not only that, but you’ll be far less inclined to take a pint of ice cream to the face if you’ve just guzzled a cool, creamy concoction of fruits and vegetables.
The recipe below is no joke. It makes one very large serving of green smoothie, but hey, it’s for those tough days when you just need a little something extra. There are LOTS of greens for nourishment, a bit of cucumber (because hey, I want to be cool as a cucumber) for detox, and loads of yummy tropical fruit and coconut water to give you the sensation of being on a warm beach, chillin’ out and catchin’ some rays.
