My six year old son has a severe anaphylactic allergy to wheat and barley, and has outgrown his allergies to eggs, dairy, and tree nuts. We strictly implemented an anti-inflammatory diet for about 2.5 years and I believe this diet was at least partially responsible for him outgrowing many of his allergies and for the drastic improvements we saw in his asthma. I can never say with 100% certainty that our approach worked, but I believe that food acts as the first line of medicine when dealing with any chronic condition.
In this video, I discuss our experiences with food allergies and intolerances, what we did to heal his immune response, and why we chose to undergo a desensitization treatment, OIT (oral immunotherapy). I also discuss the challenges that have come along with this treatment so that others who are considering the treatment might be better informed. Feel free to post questions below!
